World’s highest bridge in China to open to the public this week

BEIJING: The Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge in Southwest China’s Guizhou province is set to open to traffic on September 28, marking the completion of over three years of construction, local authorities announced on Wednesday.

Stretching 2,890 meters with a main span of 1,420 meters, the bridge soars 625 meters above the river, making it the highest bridge in the world. It will also hold the record as the largest-span bridge ever built in a mountainous region, according to the provincial government.
