Abbottabad: As snowfall blankets Nathiagali, Galiyat, and other mountainous regions, a heartening display of swift response and solidarity emerges as authorities mobilize efforts to aid stranded tourists.
In Nathiagali and Galiyat, slippery roads have left several tourists stranded along Changla Street. Despite the challenges, the Galiyat Development Authority (GDA) springs into action, launching a rescue operation to assist those affected. With the operation’s diligent efforts, many stranded tourists are safely rescued, including those stuck in over 10 vehicles.
In Murree, Rawalpindi traffic police take proactive measures to regulate traffic and ensure the safety of tourists during snowfall. Chief Traffic Officer Taimoor Khan issues a comprehensive plan, advising tourists to exercise caution while driving on slippery roads. Only licensed drivers are permitted to enter Murree, and tourists are urged to use chains on tires and pack extra warm clothing for their stay.
Furthermore, an emergency helpline (051-9269200) has been introduced to facilitate tourists, providing round-the-clock assistance for complaints and inquiries. The helpline serves as a control room, coordinating efforts to provide necessary facilities and support to tourists in need.
Meanwhile, in Astore Valley, road closures due to rain, snowfall, and landslides pose challenges for travelers. However, the District Administration, in coordination with the Public Works Department, works tirelessly to clear blocked roads, ensuring the safety and convenience of travelers.
