BAHAWALPUR: In a bizarre incident, at least five people lost their lives in a deadly  collision of a trailer and a car near Ahmedpur East in Bahawalpur.

According to the Motorway police, the car included at least nine passengers at the time of the accident. The police investigation indicated that the driver of the car made a sudden lane change without signaling the trailer that was driving behind and switched the lane.

Upon the sudden action of the car the trailer driver could not control the vehicle and stumbled onto the car resulting in the death of five people at the spot.

Additionally, the police has also blamed the thick fog that has captured all key highways and motorways in Pakistan, making the visibility to drop at dangerous extents.

Moreover, Motorway police have commented on the excessive number of passengers being in the car which might have contributed to the accident. Full investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash have begun, and it appears from the onset reasonable that reckless driving and bad weather played their own significant roles in the tragic result.

This incident highlights the importance of safe driving, and strict adherence to the traffic rules especially in bad weather situations. Commuters are requested to follow the advisory issued by the National Highway and Motorway Police (NHMP).
