PESHAWAR: A 5.2-magnitude earthquake rattled Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Peshawar, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said on Tuesday.
Citizens rushed out of their homes and offices in fear. However, no loss of life or property was reported.
As per the Met Office, the earthquake occurred at 10:20 am with its origin at a depth of 190 kilometres and epicentre in Afghanistan’s Hindu Kush region.
Earlier, tremors were felt in the federal capital and surrounding areas, including Rawalpindi.
According to the initial estimate, the earthquake was of 5.1 magnitude, whereas the depth is estimated at around 10 Kilometers.
Additionally, the epicenter is described as 15 km southeast of Rawat.
