KARACHI: On Thursday, two Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers, Anis and Ameer Hamza from PTI’s Central District, were injured in a robbery attempt near Karachi’s Nazimabad while resisting street criminals.
The robbers shot the workers after which they were swiftly taken to the hospital for emergency treatment.
PTI Sindh President Haleem Adil Sheikh, along with Karachi President Raja Azhar and General Secretary Arsalan Khalid, arrived at the hospital with a large group of party workers after hearing about the incident.
Moreover, Sheikh criticized the Sindh government for its failure to ensure the safety of Karachi’s youth. “Our two workers were injured in this robbery, and the government seems to have allowed targeted killings in Karachi,” he said.
He further accused the police of inaction, stating, “For months, Karachi’s youth have been targeted and killed without any resistance from the police. Have the Chief Minister and the Inspector General of Sindh granted these criminals a ‘license to kill’?”
Sheikh also pointed out the inadequacies of Abbasi Shaheed Hospital’s facilities, which necessitated the transfer of the injured to a private hospital for better care.
Earlier, on July 26, a violent clash in the upscale commercial area of Khayaban-e-Nishat, Defence Phase V, Karachi, resulted in five deaths.
Police reported that the confrontation occurred between two factions of the Bugti tribe who arrived in pickup trucks. Among the deceased were believed to be Mir Ali Haider Bugti and Qaim Ali, with one of the deceased being the grandson of the late Nawabzada Akbar Bugti, the former chief of the Bugti tribe.
