Islamabad: A recent viral video capturing an interaction between Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and lawmaker Uzma Kardar in the Punjab Assembly has sparked widespread debate on social media. The video shows Maryam Nawaz pushing Kardar’s hand away during their encounter, leading to speculation about perceived rudeness.
However, Kardar came forward hours after the incident to provide clarity on the matter. She explained that Maryam Nawaz had approached her while she was enjoying breakfast, and in the midst of the emotional greeting, Kardar’s hands were oily due to the food. Recognizing this, she promptly removed her hands from Maryam’s shoulder out of consideration.
In a video statement, Kardar emphasized that the incident was merely a misunderstanding and urged people to refrain from sharing the short video clip in a negative light. She expressed gratitude towards Maryam Nawaz for the respect she has received and acknowledged the historic milestone of Nawaz becoming the country’s first female chief minister.
