Chief Minister Punjab: PTI-backed MPAs walk out of Punjab Assembly ahead of voting

PTI-backed Sunni Ittehad Council members MPAs have walked out of the Punjab Assembly ahead of the chief minister’s election on Monday.

The 103-member boycotted the voting when Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Ahmed Khan was giving election instructions, who had mandated the ringing of bells for five minutes.

The start of the Punjab Assembly elections was delayed and the members of the Sunni Ittehad Council walked out of the House after being prevented from speaking.

A few moments earlier, House Speaker Malik Ahmad Khan declared that the proceedings for today would not permit members to express their views, as the agenda included the election of a new chief minister.

When the SIC legislators walked out of the assembly. The assembly with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senior vice-president Maryam Nawaz at the start of the session today is going to elect a new chief minister, who is most likely to be the CM as his party has a majority in the provincial assembly after the general elections on February 8.
