SINDH: The Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) has filed a First Information Report (FIR) against a deceased individual, Ghulam Rasool, for alleged electricity theft in Tehsil Gambat, Khairpur.

The case was registered under the Electricity Act, with SDO Umar Pathan collaborating with local police to file the report at the Gambat police station.

The controversy surrounding the FIR lies in the fact that Ghulam Rasool passed away three years ago, making it impossible for him to be involved in any electricity theft.

This unbelievable case has raised serious questions about the procedures and motivations behind the filing of the case.

The local residents have expressed outrage and dismay over the incident, alleging that SDO Umar Pathan has a history of exploiting his position to harass residents who refuse to pay bribes.

They claim that registering a case against a deceased person is not only a grave error but also indicative of broader issues of corruption and misuse of power within the local WAPDA office.

The community has called for an immediate investigation into the matter, demanding accountability and transparency from both WAPDA and the police.

In addition, they are seeking answers as to how such a blatant oversight could occur and what measures will be taken to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Currently, there has been no official statement from WAPDA or the police addressing the allegations or explaining the circumstances surrounding the filing of the FIR.

The lack of response has further fueled public dissatisfaction and calls for action, highlighting the need for more stringent oversight and checks within the system to prevent abuse of power and ensure accountability.
