LAHORE: Another update in the high-profile case of YouTuber Ducky Bhai as Saad-ur-Rehman has been sent to jail on 14-day judicial remand for promoting illegal gambling apps in Pakistan.
The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) produced the influencer in a Lahore court after his three-day physical remand expired. During Monday’s proceedings, the magistrate directed investigators to file the case challan as soon as possible.
The arrest took place in dramatic fashion at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport on August 17. Authorities claim that Ducky was not only promoting gaming apps like Binomo, 1xBet, Bet365, and B9 Game but also worked as a country manager for one of them, making huge payments to lure his millions of fans.
With millions of followers online, Ducky is facing cases related to digital forgery, fraud, spamming, forgery, cheating and dishonesty under both the Electronic Crimes Act 2016 and the Pakistan Penal Code. If proven, the influencer could face hefty fines.
But the drama doesn’t end there. The scandal has sent shockwaves through the influencer community with several big names, including Sisterology’s Iqra Kanwal, Muhammad Anas Ali, Hasnain Shah, Mudassar Hassan, and viral star Nadeem Naniwal, being summoned by investigators.
The NCCIA said it was not just a matter of these platforms’ reckless advertising but full-blown involvement in financial scams. With fans stunned and critics demanding accountability, one thing is clear: Pakistan’s influencer economy is under the microscope like never before.
