LAHORE: Pakistan’s renowned scriptwriter, director and poet Khalilur Rehman Qamar was allegedly kidnapped and released after paying a ransom to the kidnappers, here on Sunday.
As per the details, known for his controversial statements and dramatic storylines, Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar often finds himself in the headlines. He has sparked debates with his comments before, sometimes in favor of women and sometimes against them.
Recently, Qamar was in the news again after a heated verbal exchange with a woman on a TV show. Additionally, her admission of enmity with actor Nauman Ejaz garnered a lot of attention on social media. However, her latest headline-making incident involves her kidnapping.
According to police sources, Khalilur Rehman Qamar was abducted by a gang a few days ago and subjected to physical violence. Reports suggest that the kidnappers demanded and received a huge ransom for his release.
Police revealed that the famous writer is reluctant to take legal action, as he has not registered an FIR regarding his abduction. Instead, he revealed the details of the incident verbally through a senior police official. Authorities are now trying to convince Qamar to initiate legal proceedings and help nab the kidnappers.
Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar is known for his successful TV dramas like “Sadake Tumre,” “Mere Paas Tum Ho,” and “Piyare Afzal.” His hit films include “Punjab Nahi Jaon Ga” and “London Nahi Jaon Ga”.
