The Urwa Hocane name spelling controversy has become a hot topic after a Mufti shared his opinion on a private TV channel. The discussion took place during a Ramadan transmission.

Popular Pakistani actress Urwa is known for writing her surname in English as “Hocane” instead of “Hussain.” This spelling has often attracted public attention.

During the Ramadan program, the host asked the Mufti about celebrities who change the spelling of their names. He specifically mentioned Urwa’s surname and asked whether such changes are acceptable.

The Mufti replied that calling someone by a distorted name is not allowed. He said changing a name deliberately is also not correct.

He added that “Hocane” is not an Arabic name. According to him, names should be pronounced correctly because they are given by parents and carry respect.

The Mufti also shared an example from Islamic history. He said that Hazrat Ali (RA) once stopped a person from calling someone by a changed name and called it an injustice.

He further advised parents and individuals to be careful while choosing Islamic names. He said names carry meaning and dignity.

The Urwa Hocane name spelling controversy has since gone viral on social media. Many users are sharing clips from the program and expressing mixed opinions.
