HARARE: The Event Technical Committee of the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2026 has approved Abdul Qadir as a replacement for Mohammad Shayan in the Pakistan team.

Qadir has been selected as a replacement after Shayan withdrew from the tournament because of a nasal bone fracture that he suffered during a team training session.

The X-ray report confirmed a fractured nasal bone, and the PCB said that Mohammad Shian’s participation in the ICC U-19 World Cup was not possible.

The withdrawal of a player needs to be approved by the Event Technical Committee before the replacement player can be included in the team.

This comes as Pakistan U19 are all set to face India in their final Super Six match of the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup.

Pakistan will face their arch-rivals India at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo on Sunday, 1 February, with the first ball to be bowled at 9.30 am local time.

The last time the two teams faced each other was in the final of the ACC Men’s U19 Asia Cup, where Pakistan won by 191 runs to take home the trophy at the ICC Academy Ground in Dubai. Sameer Minhas scored 172 runs, and right-arm fast bowler Ali Raza took four wickets.
