NEW DELHI: Indian cricket team’s opening batsman Abhishek Sharma has been admitted to the hospital due to a stomach infection, after which his participation in the T20 World Cup against Namibia, Pakistan and other teams in the group has become doubtful.
According to Indian media reports, Abhishek Sharma’s condition had started to deteriorate even before the match against the United States, but he still participated in the match.
A new controversy has taken hold in the T20 World Cup, a ruckus has broken out
Sources say that his condition worsened after the match, due to which he was immediately shifted to a private hospital in New Delhi.
According to reports, after the examination, the doctors said that he has a stomach infection, while he was immediately put on drips due to high fever. Various medical tests are being conducted in the hospital so that the nature and severity of the infection can be accurately assessed and treatment can be continued accordingly.
Abhishek Sharma could not attend the team’s practice session either. He was absent from the team’s training session at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi, after which concerns about his fitness have increased.
Media reports have said that it is not yet clear whether he will be discharged from the hospital today or not. Due to this uncertainty, his chances of participating in the match against Namibia seem low.
In view of the current situation, the Indian team management has included all-rounder Washington Sundar in the squad as a precautionary measure so that the team does not face a shortage of replacement players if Abhishek Sharma is not available for the match.
No final statement has been issued by the team management in this regard yet, however, cricket fans are praying for his speedy recovery.
