Afghanistan announces squad for T20 World Cup

KABUL: Afghanistan has announced the squad for the T20 World Cup and the series against the West Indies.

The National Selection Committee of the Afghanistan Cricket Board has announced a 15-member squad, Rashid Khan will lead the Afghan team in the World Cup and the series against the West Indies.

The Afghanistan team will play three T20 matches against the West in the United Arab Emirates, which will be hosted by Afghanistan from January 19 to 22.

All-rounder Gulbuddin Naib and fast bowler Naveenul Haq have returned to the Afghan squad.

The Afghan squad includes Rashid Khan (captain), Ibrahim Zadran (vice-captain), Mohammad Ishaq, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Siddiqullah Atul, Shahidullah Kamal, Darwish Rasuli, Azmatullah Omarzai, Gulbuddin Naib, Mohammad Nabi, Noor Ahmed, Mujeeb-ur-Rehman, Naveenul Haq, Fazal Haq Farooqi and Abdullah Ahmadzai.

AM Ghazanfar, Ijaz Ahmadzai and Ziaur Rehman Sharifi have been kept in the reserves. Afghanistan will play its first match in the World Cup against New Zealand in Chennai on February 8.
