Asia Cup 2025: Bangladesh defeats Afghanistan by 8 runs

DUBAI: Bangladesh defeated Afghanistan by 8 runs in the 9th match of the Asia Cup T20 tournament, here on Tuesday.

This Group B match was played in Abu Dhabi, where Bangladesh won the toss and decided to bat first.

Bangladesh scored 154 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Tanzeed Hasan scored 52 and Saif Hasan scored 30 runs. Tohid scored 26 runs.

Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmed took 2 wickets each for Afghanistan.

In response to the target of 155 runs, the Afghan team was bowled out for 146 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Rahmanullah Gurbaz scored 35, Azmatullah 30 and Rashid Khan scored 20 runs.

Mustafizur Rahman took 3 wickets, Naseem Ahmed, Taskin Ahmed and Rashad took 2 wickets each.

Group B Points Table Situation

Group B Sri Lanka is in first place with 4 points after consecutive wins in 2 matches, while Bangladesh is in second place with 4 points from 3 matches.

Afghanistan is in third place with 2 points from 2 matches, while Hong Kong’s journey in the event has ended after 3 consecutive defeats.
