ABU DHABI: The anticipated tentative date for the start of the highly anticipated Asia Cup 2025 has been revealed, with fans eagerly waiting for the thrilling encounters of the world’s best cricket teams.
The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) will publish the timetable for the six-nation competition in early July, according to the report.
Additionally, the tournament is scheduled to begin in the second week of September in the T20 format. The most likely date for the onset of the Asia Cup 2025 is 10 September; however, the officials have yet to confirm the date.
Since India is the official host of this year’s event, the competition is expected to be staged in the UAE, as the country is likely to host the competition owing to political tensions in the region, with talk of a hybrid format.
Before this, there were rumors that India would pull out of the Asia Cup 2025 owing to skyrocketing tensions with Pakistan.
A few days back, the Indian media reported that India and Pakistan will not meet in the group stage of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, with the source being close to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announcing that this problem will be addressed at the annual ICC conference.
For the uninitiated, the recent strains between India and Pakistan grew stronger following the Pahalgam terror attack.
Interestingly, it must be recorded that in recent times, the PCB-BCCI strained relations have been widely reported, with the most recent point of contention being India’s refusal to attend the Champions Trophy in Pakistan.
This year’s edition will be played in the T20 format to help teams prepare for the T20 World Cup 2026. Six teams are confirmed to participate:
