SYDNEY: Australia has announced a 17-member squad for the tour of Pakistan ahead of the T20 World Cup, where the two teams will play three T20 Internationals.
Key players of the Australian team, Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Tim David, will not be part of the tour due to injury. According to the selectors, these players have been given extra time to regain full fitness before the T20 World Cup, due to which they will miss the short tour of Pakistan.
The national selectors have included some new faces who have performed well in the Big Bash League, including Perth Scorchers’ young fast bowler Mahli Beardman and Sydney Sixers’ all-rounder Jack Edwards.
Both players have yet to make their international debut, however, they were part of the Australian squad during the white-ball series against India this season.
The three-match T20I series between Pakistan and Australia will be played in Lahore.
