Babar Azam breaks Virat Kohli’s record to become highest run-scorer in T20 Cricket

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan cricket batsman and former captain Babar Azam has claimed another historic honour. He has now set a new record for scoring the most runs in T20 cricket, surpassing the previous record of Virat Kohli after the Indian super batsman.

Babar Azam achieved this feat in the match against Sydney Thunder while playing for Sydney Sharks in Australia’s Big Bash League (BBL 15). In the match played at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), Babar Azam scored a responsible innings of 58 runs off 42 balls, which included fours and 2 sixes.

With this half-century, Babar Azam scored 63 scores of 50 or more in T20 cricket for the first time, equaling Virat Kohli.

Addtionally, Babar achieved this feat in just 163 overs, while Virat Kohli took 216 overs for the same. In this list, David Warner and Jos Buttler are behind Babar and Kohli with 58 and 58 half-centuries, respectively.

Talking about the match, Babar Azam played a responsible role after Daniel Hughes was dismissed early. In the powerplay, he made a strike and gave Josh Phillippe a chance to play openly. A brilliant century partnership was formed between the two, which became the basis for the big score of Sydney Sixers.
