Pakistan’s star batter Babar Azam home milestone became a major talking point on Thursday as he completed 100 international matches on home soil. The landmark appearance came at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, marking a proud and emotional moment in the cricketer’s career and for Pakistan cricket fans across the country.

Playing his 100th home international match in front of a passionate crowd, Babar described the occasion as an honour and a dream come true. He said representing Pakistan on home grounds for such a significant milestone carried deep personal value, especially given the unwavering support he has received throughout his journey.

Babar Azam reflects on journey and fan support

Speaking after the match, Babar highlighted the role of fans in motivating him at every stage of his career. He said the love and encouragement he receives is not limited to Lahore but extends to every city and stadium in Pakistan. According to him, this consistent backing inspires him to perform better and remain focused at the highest level.

Babar also shared memories of some of his most cherished innings played at home venues. He noted that Test performances in cities like Karachi and Lahore hold special meaning for him, adding that every ground in Pakistan carries its own memories and emotions. For the batter, these experiences together shape his connection with domestic crowds.

Recalling his early days, Babar revealed that he once attended a Pakistan versus South Africa match at the same stadium as a ball boy during his childhood years. Returning to the venue years later as a senior national player, completing 100 home internationals, was something he described as almost unreal.

Team management praises historic achievement

Pakistan team head coach Mike Hesson also acknowledged the significance of the achievement. He said playing in front of home fans is always special, but this match stood out due to Babar reaching a rare milestone on Pakistani soil. Hesson congratulated Babar, calling it a major honour for any international cricketer.

The coach praised Babar’s contributions to Pakistan cricket, stating that his consistency, leadership, and commitment have added great value to the national side. He added that the entire team shared the happiness of the moment, which also served as a proud occasion for cricket supporters nationwide.

Babar Azam home milestone not only reflects individual excellence but also symbolizes the strong bond between players and fans, reinforcing the importance of international cricket returning and thriving in Pakistan.
