Babar Azam & Muhammad Rizwan slip down in latest ICC rankings

DUBAI: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has released the latest rankings for ODIs and T20Is.

India’s Shubman Gill remains at the top of the ODI batsmen rankings, while Indian captain Rohit Sharma has moved up one place to second, while former number one Babar Azam has dropped one place to third.

India’s Virat Kohli is in the fourth position in the rankings. Australia’s Travis Head has moved up one place to 12th.

National team captain Mohammad Rizwan has dropped one place to 23rd.

In the latest ICC T20 rankings, national fast bowler Haris Rauf has moved up two places to 24th with 575 points, while Abbas Afridi has moved up one place to 26th with 572 points.

Spinner Safyan Muqim and left-arm fast bowler Shaheen Afridi also improved, moving to 33rd and 34th positions respectively.

Spinners Mohammad Nawaz and Abrar Ahmed dropped in their rankings, with Nawaz dropping two places to 58th and Abrar dropping one place to 61st, while Shadab Khan dropped one place to 73rd.

New Zealand’s Jacob Duffy remains at the top of the rankings, England’s Adil Rashid is second and West Indies’ Aqeel Hussain is third.

In batting, national stars Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, who have been out of T20 cricket since 2024, dropped one place each to 18th and 20th, respectively.

Middle-order batter Hassan Nawaz dropped two places to 32nd, and Saim Ayub reached 38th position with 559 points.

Other players include opener Sahibzada Farhan (64th), T20 captain Salman Ali Agha (77th), Fakhar Zaman (79th) and wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Haris (88th), who dropped two places.

India’s Abhishek Sharma remains at the top of the batting rankings, while Australia’s Travis Head (2nd) has dropped two places to fourth, while India’s Tilak Verma (2nd) and England’s Phil Salt (3rd) have moved up to second and third place respectively.
