Babar, Rizwan & Shaheen drop in ICC Test Rankings 2024

ISLAMABAD: Pakistani cricketers Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan and Shaheen Afridi faced relegation as the ICC announced the latest Test cricket rankings, here on Wednesday.

After another poor batting performance in the first Test against England that cost him a place in the national team, Babar moved to 15th place with 684 points while Rizwan slipped to 19th place with 678 points and while Shaheen was out of it. Top 10 in the bowlers’ rankings and is now 14th with 681 points.

Hasan Ali and Naseem Shah also came in at 34th and 36th respectively, while Amir Jamal and Abrar Ahmed are at 49th and 51st in the standings.

On the other side of the picture, Agha Salman and captain Shan Masood made notable strides, with Salman climbing 11 places to 22nd and Masood jumping 12 places to 51st in the batsmen’s rankings.

Pakistan’s loss was England’s gain Joe Root cemented his place in the batsmen’s rankings after a career-best double century (262 runs) in England’s dominant win over Pakistan in Multan.

After this triple century in the same Test, he has joined compatriot Harry Brooke at the top of the ICC Test batsmen’s rankings and New Zealand’s Kane Williamson is third.
