England outclass Scotland in T20 World Cup thriller

KOLKATA: England defeated Scotland by 5 wickets in the 23rd match of the T20 World Cup 2026.

In the day-night match played at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, England achieved the target of 153 runs in 18.2 overs for the loss of 5 wickets and won with 10 balls to spare.

Earlier, Scotland scored 152 runs in 19.4 overs. Captain Richie Barrington played a responsible innings of 49 runs while Michael Jones scored 33 runs. For England, Adil Rashid took 3 wickets while Jofra Archer and Liam Dawson took two wickets each.

In pursuit of the target, England had a disappointing start and the first two wickets fell early, however, Tom Benton played a brilliant batting and played a match-winning innings of 63 runs.

Sam Curran scored 28 and Will Jacks scored an unbeaten 16 to lead the team to victory. With this victory, England further consolidated their position in Group C.
