New York: South Africa clinched a narrow victory over Bangladesh by four runs in their third T20 World Cup 2024 encounter at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York on Monday.

Bangladesh faced a tough start to their innings, mirroring South Africa’s struggle, as the Proteas’ pacers caused havoc among their batsmen. Tanzid Hasan (9 off 9), Najmul Hossain Shanto (14 off 23), Liton Das (9 off 13), and Shakib Al Hasan (3 off 4) all returned to the pavilion early, leaving Bangladesh at 50-4 after 9.5 overs.

Earlier, South Africa set a 114-run target for Bangladesh.

With 6 points secured, South Africa is well on their way to the next round, while Bangladesh faces disappointment with only two points in hand. This outcome adds an intriguing twist to Group D. As this match concludes, the spotlight shifts to the next fixture in Group C, where Pakistan will face Canada at the same venue.
