Naseem Shah and Kieron Pollard clash
DUBAI: An interesting incident took place during the thrilling match between Desert Vipers and MI Emirates in the final of the fourth edition of ILT20 played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, when a verbal clash broke out between fast bowler Naseem Shah and MI Emirates captain Kieron Pollard.
The incident took place in the 11th over of the innings, when Pollard’s ball went straight towards Naseem Shah during the defense. Naseem looked at Pollard with a smile while picking up the ball, to which Pollard reacted aggressively. The two players came close to each other and a verbal exchange of harsh words started. At this point, the umpires and Desert Vipers’ batter Jason Roy intervened and settled the matter.
Naseem Shah later responded with his bowling and dismissed Pollard on the first ball of the 16th over, restricting them to 28 runs. This wicket proved to be a major blow to MI Emirates’ hopes.
In the match, Desert Vipers defeated MI Emirates by 46 runs to win their first ILT20 title in their history. Naseem Shah’s brilliant bowling and captain Sam Curran’s unbeaten half-century were key in the Vipers’ victory.
Under the leadership of Sam Curran, the team reached the final for the third time in four seasons and finally lifted the trophy.
After the match, Naseem Shah said, “The pressure of a final is completely different from any other match. This victory is the result of the hard work of the entire team, be it batting or bowling. Our teamwork and management made the best choices and every player gave their best, and the result is in front of everyone.”
With this victory, Desert Vipers demonstrated the team’s ability and consistency by winning their first trophy in ILT20 history.
