MUMBAI: India Women’s team beat South Africa by 52 runs to win the ICC Women’s World Cup title.
The match started late due to rain in the final played in Mumbai, but there was no reduction in overs.
South Africa won the toss and put India to bat first, who scored 298 runs for seven wickets in the stipulated 50 overs.
Shafali Verma scored 87, Deepti Sharma scored 58, and Smriti Mandhana scored 45 runs.
South Africa’s Khaka took three wickets.
In reply, the South African team could score 246 runs.
Captain Laura played an innings of 101 runs, but she could not win the decisive battle for her team; she hit 11 fours and a six.
Annerie Dercksen played an innings of 35 runs, Deepti Sharma took five, and Shafali Verma took two wickets.
The Indian team has won the ICC Women’s World Cup title for the first time.
