Luis Suarez contemplating retirement due to severe knee pain

Gremio’s president, Alberto Guerra, has disclosed that Uruguayan and Gremio striker Luis Suarez is facing difficulties in prolonging his football career due to a knee condition known as osteoarthrosis. Reports from Brazilian media suggest that the former Barcelona player is even contemplating retirement as he battles severe pain, necessitating injections in order to play.

Speaking to reporters at Gremio’s stadium, Guerra revealed the seriousness of Suarez’s condition, stating that there is a possibility of the 36-year-old striker receiving a prosthesis for his knee. Suarez has been subjected to numerous injections and medication, but it appears that he is nearing the limit of what his knee can endure, leaving his future uncertain.

Despite his struggles, Suarez is still actively participating in training sessions and has been included in Gremio’s squad for their upcoming match against America-MG in Brazil’s Serie A. The Uruguayan forward, who joined Gremio in January and has a contract until December 2024, has managed to score 11 goals in 25 games thus far.
