TAROUBA: Pakistan’s experienced fast bowler Mohammad Abbas achieved a unique feat by bowling brilliantly on the third day of the first Test against the West Indies.
Mohammad Abbas, who took 3 wickets in the first innings of the match between the hosts, the West Indies, and Pakistan at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy, made a brilliant start in the second innings and sent Brandon King and Keum Hodge to the pavilion in his third over.
Later, Mohammad Abbas also dismissed West Indian batter Justin Graves.
After these 3 wickets, Mohammad Abbas’s bowling average in Test cricket has increased to 22.69, with which he broke the national record of the best average of 22.81 held by former Pakistan captain Imran Khan.
Mohammad Abbas has surpassed Imran Khan to become the national fast bowler with the best bowling average in Test cricket.
Imran Khan took 362 wickets in 88 Test matches in his Test career, while Mohammad Abbas has taken 116 wickets in 30 Test matches since making his Test debut against the West Indies in 2017.
Mohammad Abbas also became the sixth Pakistani fast bowler to complete 100 wickets abroad in Test cricket.
This list also includes Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, Imran Khan, Mohammad Amir and Umar Gul, while Mohammad Abbas has the best bowling average among all these bowlers.
