Mohammad Abbas reaches 1,000 wickets milestone in professional cricket

LAHORE: National cricket team fast bowler Mohammad Abbas has crossed the milestone of 1,000 wickets in professional cricket.

He achieved this feat in the first innings of the Sylhet Test against Bangladesh, where he took 3 wickets today to take his total wickets to 1,000.

According to statistics, Mohammad Abbas has so far taken 884 wickets in first-class cricket, 84 in List A and 32 in the T20 format.

Mohammad Abbas showed brilliant bowling and sent both openers Mahmud-ul-Hasan Joy and Tanzeed Hasan to the pavilion, while the wicket of Bangladesh captain Najam-ul-Hasan Shanto also fell to him.

36-year-old fast bowler Mohammad Abbas has become the sixth fast bowler from Pakistan to cross this milestone. Previously, this honor has been shared by Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, Imran Khan, Mohammad Amir and Umar Gul.

Interestingly, his average in overseas Test cricket has been 23.02, which is being considered the best among bowlers who have taken more than 100 wickets.

According to statistics, Mohammad Abbas has so far taken 109 wickets in 51 Test innings, of which only 9 wickets were taken on Pakistani soil, while all the remaining wickets were taken on foreign grounds.
