LAHORE: The previous Multan Sultans owner, Ali Tareen, is again in the news after his rift with the PCB earlier, but now fans want to know whether he is purchasing the Multan Sultans again in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

The auction date for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Multan Sultans was officially announced on the 4th of February 2026.

According to the post on X, it has been confirmed by the officials that the auction of the Multan Sultans franchise will be conducted on the 9th of February 2026 in Lahore.

When asked about what’s next, Tareen replied, “We have submitted our papers, and we are one of the qualified bidders for the team. But I want everyone to have realistic expectations and temper them. It’s not a given that I will go for Multan Sultans at any cost.”

“It has been a privilege to own Multan Sultans for seven years. It has been one of the highlights of my life. I love PSL and being part of it, whether I’m in the stands or in the dugout. Maybe I’m a little happier being in the dugout,” he added.

“If we are getting the team at a good price, then definitely we will buy it. But buying at any cost is not the plan,” he added.

Tareen concluded with thanks to fans for their continued support and enthusiasm for his potential return as the owner of the Multan Sultans Franchise, once again emphasizing the importance of maintaining realistic expectations ahead of the auction.

The base price for the Multan Sultans franchise has been fixed at Rs. 1.8 billion.

The amount indicates the increasing value of the Pakistan Super League franchises with the recent sale of franchises for Hyderabad and Sialkot for Rs. 1.75 billion and Rs. 1.85 billion, respectively.

PSL 11: Auction date locked in for Multan Sultans

The auction date for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Multan Sultans has been announced.

According to PSL officials, the auction of Multan Sultans will be held in Lahore on February 9.

A total of 5 bidders will compete for the ownership rights of Multan Sultans, who were selected by the Pakistan Cricket Board’s bid committee.

According to the PCB, a total of 6 proposals were received within the stipulated time, after which 5 bidders were declared technically eligible, who will now participate in the auction.

It should be noted that the former owner of Multan Sultans, Ali Tareen, had refused to renew the 10-year ownership agreement, after which the PCB announced the auction of the franchise.
