Nation celebrates Arshad Nadeem’s victory, govt offers rewards and cash prizes

ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly and Senate have extended their congratulations to Arshad Nadeem for winning the gold medal in the Men’s Javelin Throw at the Paris Olympics.

The National Assembly unanimously passed a resolution recommending that the government confer the highest civil award on gold medalist Arshad Nadeem. The resolution, proposed by Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar, also extended congratulations to Nadeem for his gold medal victory at the Paris Olympics.

Deputy Chairman Syedaal Khan Nasar announced that the Senate will host a dinner in Nadeem’s honor to celebrate his achievement, which has made the nation proud. He also mentioned that the exceptional athlete will receive awards as a token of appreciation.

Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar praised Nadeem’s remarkable accomplishment and assured that the government is committed to supporting sports development in the country. He encouraged Pakistani youth to be inspired by Nadeem’s historic victory.

In a National Assembly session on Friday, Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari all congratulated Nadeem on his success.

PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari emphasized the nation’s pride in Nadeem’s victory and highlighted that his achievement came through sheer determination.

He noted that this triumph illustrates the potential of Pakistan’s youth, asserting that with the right support, they can excel not only in the Olympics and cricket world cups but also in football world cups.

Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab made this announcement on X, expressing his delight at witnessing this historic event alongside the public, emphasizing the significance of winning a gold medal for Pakistan after 32 long years.

“Congratulations Arshad. Fortunate to have witnessed this historic moment with the public. Gold medal for Pakistan in Olympics after 40 years. PPP’s Sindh Govt will give Rs 5 Crore to Arshad,” Wahab tweeted, adding that the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) will establish “Arshad Nadeem Athletics Academy” soon.

Moreover, the Punjab government expressed its gratitude by thanking Arshad Nadeem for making Pakistan’s name shine worldwide as well as offering 10 crore Pakistani rupees promising to build a sports city in Arshad’s name.

Additionally, several prominent personalities including celebrities have announced rewards to motivate Arshad Nadeem for future achievements.

Salman Iqbal successful businessman has announced a plot as a gift to super athlete. Whereas Ali Zafar a global sensation and famous singer has announced 1 million Pakistani rupees.
