Ownership dispute hits Sialkot Stallionz ahead of PSL 11

LAHORE: A dispute has emerged over the shares of the new franchise Sialkot Stallionz ahead of the start of the 11th season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Australia-based businessman Muhammad Shahid has claimed that he is the legal owner of 76 percent of the franchise’s shares. While Hamza Majeed, who holds 24 percent of the shares, is allegedly trying to sell more shares without his permission.

Muhammad Shahid alleged in his video statement that Hamza Majeed is trying to sell his shares at high prices for more profit, which he termed as illegal.

He said that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and PSL administration have been informed about the matter. And if necessary, legal action will be taken.

Muhammad Shahid said that he has come to Pakistan after 27 years and wants to play a role in the development of the country by investing in it. However, according to him, things are not being run in a transparent manner.

He said that his lawyers are reviewing the situation, and a future course of action will be decided soon.

Wasim Akram joins Sialkot Stallionz as team president

Former Pakistan cricket captain Wasim Akram has been appointed as the president of Pakistan Super League (PSL) team Sialkot Stallionz.

Wasim Akram was officially named the president of Sialkot Stallions at a ceremony organized by Alpha Oz Sports at a private hotel in Lahore.

Wasim Akram participated in the ceremony online. Wasim Akram said that he will play every possible role to make Sialkot Stallionz a strong and successful franchise and will use his experience to build the team on a professional basis.

During the ceremony, the official logo of Sialkot Stallionz was unveiled for the first time. Team head coach Tim Paine, co-owners Hamza Majeed and Muhammad Shahid were also present on the occasion.

He expressed his determination that Sialkot Stallionz will play an important role in introducing modern features in PSL, promoting cricket, and further improving the quality of the game.

Sabiha Sultan, Chairperson of Alpha Oz Sports, also expressed her best wishes and announced that the organization will take practical steps to promote women’s cricket in the future. So that more opportunities can be provided to women in Pakistan.

She termed this move by Sialkot Stallionz as a positive and welcome development for the league and Pakistani cricket.
