KP Government announces New Number Plates for all vehicles

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to change the number plates of all government and private vehicles across the province.

According to the Excise Department, stickers with modern radio frequency identification system will be installed in the new number plates, with the help of which the identification and tracking of vehicles will be possible.

According to the Excise Department officials, the provincial government provides the current number plates to the citizens for Rs 1,200, however, the price of the new number plates with RFID sticker will be increased to Rs 4,000. The new technology will help in improving vehicle records, identifying stolen or suspicious vehicles and making the traffic system more effective.

The new number plates will be applied to all government and private vehicles plying in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. All vehicles will be provided with modern number plates in a phased manner, while more details in this regard will be released soon.

On the other hand, in view of the increasing incidents of boat accidents in the tourist destination of Upper Swat in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the district administration has decided to conduct a comprehensive survey of boats.

According to the district administration, the fitness, safety arrangements and quality of boats operating at different places will be reviewed. During the survey, it will be found out which boats meet the prescribed standards for the safety of tourists and which boats are prone to accidents.
