SBP keeps policy rate unchanged at 11.50% in latest monetary policy

KARACHI: The State Bank of Pakistan has announced the monetary policy for the next two months.

While announcing the monetary policy, State Bank of Pakistan Governor Jamil Ahmed said that the Monetary Policy Committee decided to maintain the policy rate at 11.50.

He said that the inflation trend was downward in previous years and the average inflation from July to February was 5.5 percent.

The current account deficit in the fiscal year 2026 was 139 million dollars, while in the fiscal year 2027 the current account deficit will be zero to one percent of the GDP ratio.

The Governor of the State Bank said that remittances will be 20.20 billion dollars by December 2026, this estimate remains unchanged despite the global situation.

Exports and workers’ remittances are our major sources. Exports will improve in fiscal year 27 with the government’s efforts. 300 million dollars have come into Roshan digital accounts over 4 months.

Jamil Ahmed said that imports will increase in the current fiscal year and our inflows will also remain good. Despite all the payments, we have increased our foreign exchange reserves. There are external debt payments of $21.5 billion in fiscal year 27.
