LAHORE: In a remarkable display of sportsmanship and cross-border camaraderie, the Pakistan Federation of Baseball (PFB) has extended a warm invitation to the Indian baseball team, along with Malaysia, for a thrilling tri-nation series set to take place in Lahore.
The announcement comes as a significant step forward in fostering diplomatic ties through sports, with the Amateur Baseball Federation of India (ABFI) graciously accepting the invitation from PFB President Fakhar Ali Shah.
Expressing enthusiasm for the upcoming series, Hiresh Kumar, Secretary of ABFI, conveyed his gratitude to President Shah and affirmed India’s keen interest in participating, provided timely visa arrangements can be secured. Kumar also revealed plans to traverse via the iconic Wagah Border to reach Lahore for the matches.
Scheduled to kick off on April 15th and run through April 22nd, the tri-nation series promises an electrifying showcase of baseball prowess, with both men’s and women’s teams from Pakistan, India, and Malaysia vying for supremacy on the diamond.
President Shah emphasized the competitive spirit of the tournament, highlighting its significance in bolstering the teams’ world rankings ahead of the highly anticipated West Asia Cup. “All teams participating in the series will have a golden opportunity to elevate their standings on the global stage,” he remarked.
The forthcoming event holds particular significance for Pakistan, as reigning champions of the West Asia Cup. Their victory in the February 2023 final marked a historic sixth win, securing their berth in the prestigious Asian Baseball Championship alongside runner-up Palestine.
