Pakistan U19 edge Afghanistan by one wicket in Thriller

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan defeated Afghanistan by one wicket in the Under-19 Tri-Nation Series after a thrilling encounter.

In the second match of the Under-19 Tri-Nation Series played in Harare, the capital of Zimbabwe, the Afghanistan team was bowled out for 226 runs in the stipulated 50 overs.

For Afghanistan, Usman scored 75 and captain Mehboob Khan scored 49 runs. For Pakistan, Usman Khan took four wickets, Mohammad Sayyam and Daniyal Ali took two wickets each.

In reply, apart from Pakistan captain Farhan Yousuf’s 65, no batsman could stay on the wicket for long, but wicketkeeper-batter Hamza Zahoor pulled Pakistan out of the most difficult situation.

He first made a 36-run partnership with Daniyal Khan, 9 players were out at 201, but Hamza Zahoor remained steadfast and gave Pakistan victory with three balls to spare.

He played a winning innings of 68 runs off just 51 balls with the help of 8 fours and a six.
