Pakistan’s Asian Hockey Champions trophy campaign ends in semi-final

HULUNBUIR: China booked a place in the finals of the Asian Hockey Champions Trophy 2024 after defeating Pakistan 2-0 in a penalty shootout at the Moqi Hockey Training Base in China on Monday.

Earlier, the final hooter goes off with both teams scoring one goal each coming from Chinese player Lu Yuanlin and Pakistan’s player Ahmad Nadeem.

Pakistan equalized the match with a brilliant strike from Ahmad Nadeem but failed to achieve a decisive lead to surpass host China.

Following the full-time, Pakistan sent Muneeb as goalkeeper for a penalty shootout. Muneeb failed to save the first two penalties. Green Shirts, on the other hand, also failed to score the first three penalties in a row leading to an embarrassing defeat.

In the round stage, Pakistan clinched a resounding 5-1 victory over China last Thursday making its way to the semi-finals.

For Pakistan, Ahmed  Nadeem and Hannan Shahid scored two goals each while Abdul Rehmanbreached the goalpost for once.
