PSL director Sohaib Sheikh, head of Pakistan women’s cricket ‘resigned’

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Wednesday announced the resignations of Pakistan Super League (PSL) director Soheb Sheikh and head of women’s cricket Tania Mallick.

Both resigned to “pursue new career opportunities”, the PCB said.

PSL director Sahib Sheikh’s resignation was announced on Wednesday. He worked at PCB from 2016 to 2019 and rejoined the organization in late 2023.

“Sahib was part of the core team that launched the HBLPSL in 2016, successfully delivering four seasons, and he was part of the core team earlier this year,” PCB Chief Operating Officer Salman Naseer said. Back to producing another high-quality event.”

PCB women’s cricket chief Tania Mallick also resigned from her post on Wednesday, ending her three-year tenure. Mallick has been heavily involved in Pakistani sports, becoming the national badminton champion in 1988 as well as representing the nation at the 1986 Seoul Asian Games.

Naseer said, “Tania has worked diligently to promote women’s cricket in Pakistan, taking grassroots initiatives to increase the player pool. Along with PCB’s ongoing support, her efforts was recognized internationally by the ICC, where she served as one of two full member representatives on the ICC Women’s Committee.

“PCB appreciates their hard work, dedication, and contribution, and we wish both Sahib and Tania every success in their future endeavors,” said the Chief Operating Officer.
