Rawalpindi traffic plan finalized for Pakistan-Bangladesh test match

RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi Traffic Police have issued a comprehensive alternate traffic plan for the practice sessions and the Test match between Pakistan and Bangladesh, being played at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium from August 21 to August 25.

The traffic plan would be followed from August 18 to 25 to facilitate traffic plying with Rawalpindi city and between twin cities, the CTP spokesman said.

According to the City Traffic Police, during the five-day test match, Murree Road will be closed from Faizabad to Double Road at the time of arrival and departure of the teams. Meanwhile, the Double Road would remain completely closed to all kinds of traffic from August 18 to 25.

As per the traffic plan, special car parking facilities will be established at five different locations and a shuttle service will be available to take spectators to Pindi Stadium.

The traffic would use 6th Road and Saidpur Road to reach Islamabad. Similarly, traffic coming from 9th Avenue would use the route of Faizabad, Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed Road, Pandora Chungi, Katarian Chungi Carriage Factory, and Pirwadhai to enter Rawalpindi.

Additionally, the CTP spokesperson said that a total of 367 officers and wardens would perform duties to regulate traffic on city roads. Eight DSPs, circles incharges, 40 inspectors, sector incharges, and 318 traffic wardens would be on duty, he added.
