LAHORE: South Africa’s young fast bowler Kwena Maphaka has been ruled out of the T20 and ODI series against Pakistan.

According to Cricket South Africa, Maphaka has been ruled out of the white-ball series against Pakistan and the only T20 against Namibia due to a hamstring injury.

Maphaka sustained the injury during a four-day domestic match last week. He bowled 5.5 overs in the first innings, but had to leave the field due to a hamstring strain.

Although initial scans did not reveal any serious problems, further medical tests later revealed that Mafaka has a grade 1 to 2 hamstring injury.

According to Cricket South Africa, Maphaka will undergo a rehabilitation process for the next 4 weeks.

Ottniel Baartman has been included in the squad for the T20I match against Namibia on October 11 and the three-match T20I series against Pakistan, replacing Maphaka.

According to Cricket South Africa, Lizaad Williams, who was already part of the T20I squad, has now been included in the ODI squad against Pakistan.

It should be noted that South Africa’s tour of Pakistan will begin with two Test matches from October 12, after which three T20Is will begin from October 28, while the three-match ODI series will continue until November 8.
