KARACHI: National team fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi has achieved another major honour in international cricket by crossing the milestone of 400 wickets.
Shaheen Afridi achieved this feat on the fourth day of the first Test match against Bangladesh at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka, dismissing Bangladeshi batsman Momin-ul-Haq to take his 400th international wicket.
After this remarkable achievement, Shaheen Shah Afridi has become only the fifth fast bowler from Pakistan to complete 400 wickets, while overall, he is the ninth bowler from Pakistan to reach this honour.
Shaheen Afridi crossed this milestone in his 211th international match. After this achievement, he has moved to ninth place in the list of bowlers who have taken the most wickets for Pakistan in all three formats.
Wasim Akram holds the record for taking the most wickets in international cricket for Pakistan, with 916 wickets, followed by Waqar Younis with 789 wickets and Imran Khan with 544 wickets.
In this list, Shahid Afridi is fourth with 538 wickets, Saqlain Mushtaq is fifth with 496 wickets, Saeed Ajmal is sixth with 447 wickets, Shoaib Akhtar is seventh with 438 wickets, and Umar Gul is ahead of Shaheen Afridi with 427 wickets.
This achievement of Shaheen Afridi is not only a turning point in his career but also a proud moment for Pakistan cricket. Completing 400 international wickets at a young age is proof that Shaheen Afridi can move further up the list of Pakistan’s prominent bowlers in the future.
