ISLAMABAD: Shahid Afridi has clarified a video of himself going viral on social media regarding the rising prices of petrol, saying that some elements are using his old video for wrong purposes.

Pakistan’s star former cricketer Shahid Afridi has clarified the truth behind a video of himself circulating on social media following the recent hike in the prices of petroleum products.

Shahid Afridi says that some mischievous elements are trying to give the wrong impression by sharing an old video that he is defending the hike in petrol prices.

He explained that the video was made long before the recent hike and its purpose was only to create awareness about energy conservation and reduced consumption. The said video was made in the national interest at the request of the Information Ministry’s In-charge Attaullah Tarar.

Expressing his views on the current situation, he said that the recent hike in petrol prices will break the back of the downtrodden people, which is not possible to defend in any way.

He called those who distorted the video for political purposes as mentally ill and said that misleading the public is a shameful attempt. Shahid Afridi made it clear that he always stands with the people and is deeply concerned about the burden of inflation.
