MUMBAI: Indian women’s cricketer Smriti Mandhana has announced the cancellation of her arranged marriage with her fiancé, music composer Palash Mouchal, confirming that their marriage is no longer taking place.

It should be noted that the two were supposed to get married on November 23 last month. The preparations for the wedding were complete, but on the wedding day, Smriti Mandhana’s father suffered a heart attack, and the wedding was postponed. The next day, Palash Mochal himself was admitted to the hospital due to poor health.

Now on Sunday, both of them issued statements on their respective Instagram stories, clarifying that they are no longer getting married. After this clarification, both of them also unfollowed each other on Instagram.

Smriti wrote on Instagram Stories that there has been a lot of speculation about my life in the last few weeks and I feel it is important to speak out at this time. I am a very private person and want to remain that way, but I want to make it clear that I am not getting married now. I want this matter to end here.

She added, “It has always been important to me to represent my country at the highest level. I hope to continue playing for India and winning trophies. That will always be my focus. Thank you all for your support. Now it’s time to move forward.”
