T20 World Cup 2024 Trophy arrives Islamabad for Pakistan tour

ISLAMABAD: With five weeks left for the much anticipated ICC T20 World Cup 2024, the tournament trophy arrived in Islamabad for a three-day visit to Pakistan as part of its global tour ahead of the tournament of the tournament in the United States and the West Indies in June.

Scores of enthusiastic fans caught a glimpse of the ICC Twenty20 World Cup Trophy at the National Monument, where it was displayed for public viewing after it arrived in Pakistan on Thursday.

Upon arrival, the trophy was carried to Lake View Park, President House and Prime Minister’s Office, for a picture session. After the trophy’s public unveiling at the Pakistan Monument, it was displayed at the Shalimar Cricket Ground.

After its display in Islamabad, the trophy will continue its journey across Pakistan for two days, going to Abbottabad on Friday before traveling to Lahore. It will be on view at Gaddafi Stadium during the final T20I between Pakistan and New Zealand on Saturday.

Twenty teams will take on each other in the T20 World Cup 2024, starting from June 2 to 29 in the USA and West Indies. The featuring teams will be divided into four groups of five. The top two teams from each group will advance to the Super 8 stage, which consists of two groups of four. 

It is the first time the USA will host a top cricketing event. England will land in the T20 World Cup as the defending champions, having won the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia by defeating Pakistan in the final.
