CALIFORNIA: Google is widening the availability of its AI-based image editor, Nano Banana, by implementing it in some of its flagship services, such as Google Search, NotebookLM, and Photos.
The feature received word-of-mouth last month due to its innovative editing capabilities, and Google is now capitalizing on that by launching it into even more apps and services.
The biggest improvement is in NotebookLM, where Nano Banana is now augmenting the platform’s Video Overviews feature. The feature can automatically create animated explainer videos from user documents. With the update, users will be able to use six new visual styles, including watercolor and anime, and create contextual illustrations drawn from source material.
Google is also adding “Briefs,” a new short-form format for AI-created micro-videos. These improvements start to roll out to Pro users this week and will be available to all users over the course of the next few weeks.
Nano. Banana is also being included in the Google Search app. Users can now edit or style images right from the search interface by inputting prompts in a chat.
Google indicates that the feature enables users to capture photos using the Lens tool and make creative adjustments with AI. The photo-syntastic update is now available live in English for US users, with support for more languages and territories coming soon.
Even though some details are scarce, Google also confirmed that Nano Banana will be integrated into the Photos application in a couple of weeks. Despite having no described features as of yet, the utility will probably apply to edit or tweak images stored.
