ISLAMABAD: Internet and mobile services have been suspended in Islamabad and Rawalpindi amid Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) planned nationwide protest.
However, mobile data and Wi-Fi service will only be suspended in areas considered security concerns, according to the Interior Ministry. Otherwise, services will continue to operate normally throughout the country.
Reports surfaced earlier stating that internet services had been suspended in various cities of Punjab, including Lahore and Faisalabad. For the affected citizens of the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, the internet services were cut, preventing them from using popular apps like Facebook, YouTube, WhatsApp, etc.
According to credible reports, mobile networks and internet services will remain suspended in the region. The government had also sealed off the capital against large gatherings and for the sake of any potential violence.
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi confirmed that mobile phone services in Islamabad will remain suspended on November 24 due to the PTI protest. The government has taken these actions as a precautionary measure for the safety and public order.
