ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has made it easier for organizations and freelancers to register their Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) by streamlining the process.
This move is expected to greatly benefit freelancers and IT professionals, providing them with seamless access to secure VPNs for commercial activities.
Entities such as software houses, call centers, banks, embassies, and freelancers can now easily register their VPNs online through the PTA’s official website.
To apply, freelancers, IT companies, and Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) members need to complete an online form and submit essential details, including their NIC numbers, company registration credentials, and taxpayer status.
Freelancers are also required to provide proof of their project or company affiliation and an IP address for connectivity. For those using a fixed IP address, this can be obtained through their internet service provider.
The PTA has already processed over 20,000 registrations, and approval is free of charge, typically taking 8 to 10 hours.
This initiative is a significant step forward in supporting the growing freelance and IT industry in Pakistan. By making VPN registration more accessible, the PTA is enabling individuals and organizations to securely conduct their online activities, promoting a safer and more reliable digital ecosystem.
