YouTube reveals Pakistan’s top videos of 2024

ISLAMABAD: YouTube has released its annual list showcasing the most popular videos in Pakistan. The platform’s data offers insight into the country’s evolving entertainment and content consumption preferences, with a growing interest in local dramas, action-packed films, and diverse creators.

This year, Pakistani viewers gravitated towards compelling storytelling, with dramas taking the lead. Popular local series such as Ishq Murshid, Jaan Nisar, and Kabhi Mein Kabhi Tum took the top three spots on the list of top trending videos, highlighting the nation’s undying love for gripping narratives. Action-packed films also made an impact, with Tiger Nageshwar Rao making it into the top five in the Hindi dubbed format. Other notable entries include Akhara and Abdullahpur Ka Devdas – both episodic dramas – showcasing a diverse taste in content.

Growth of Local Content

One of the notable observations this year was the notable increase in the volume of content uploaded by Pakistani creators. The total hours of content uploaded by Pakistanis increased by 60%, with creators earning over Rs 10 million annually, up 25%. This growing wave of local content has not only captivated national audiences but also garnered global attention, with over 65% of viewing time on Pakistani videos coming from viewers outside the country.

Top Music Videos

The Top Music Videos category showcased a mix of global hits and local talent. Tracks like Gippy Grewal and Jasmine Sandlas’ ‘Nabe Nabi’, Street 2’s ‘Aaj Ki Raat’ and Ali Zafar and Attaullah Esakhelvi’s ‘Baloo Batiyaan’ took the top spot. These songs reflect the country’s diverse musical preferences, with the blend of Punjabi and Bollywood influences resonating strongly with viewers.

Top Creators

The list of YouTube’s top creators revealed a growing interest in lifestyle, healthcare and educational content. Channels like Rajab Ki Family, Anaya Eshal Family, Arshad Reels, and Dr Imtiaz Ahmed gained traction, reflecting the growing demand for informative and relevant content that caters to a wide audience. The list also includes a range of content creators from diverse genres, including entertainment and personal blogs.
