ISLAMABAD: As per the security sources, no letter has been received from PTI founder Imran Khan to Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir yet.
The sources clarified that despite media reports that Imran Khan has written a letter to the army chief, no such letter has reached the general. This statement has come after rumors spread regarding the PTI leader’s correspondence, which was allegedly sent to the army chief.
Imran Khan’s lawyer Faisal Chaudhry had recently confirmed that the PTI leader had indeed written a six-point letter to General Munir. According to Chaudhry, the first point raised in the letter discussed the alleged rigging and victory of those involved in money laundering in the general elections. The second point concerns the 26th Constitutional Amendment, the rule of law and its impact on the judiciary. Moreover, the letter also refers to the verdict in the Al-Qadir Trust case.
According to Faisal Chaudhry, the fourth point of the letter highlighted concerns over terrorism-related allegations, raids and firings against PTI members. The fifth point raised issues related to the performance of intelligence agencies. Finally, the letter allegedly requested the army chief to review and change certain policies.
Faisal Chaudhry added that the PTI would welcome a response from the army chief, reiterating its readiness for talks once the letter is received.
While the content of the letter has garnered significant media attention, security sources have clarified that no formal communication has been made to General Asim Munir yet, leaving questions about the status of the letter and its possible consequences unresolved.
