SWAT: The Counter-Terrorism Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has killed three militants in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Swat’s Barikot area on Friday evening, according to a CTD official.
The CTD launched the operation at 7 PM after receiving the information on the presence of terrorists in the Parrai area of Ghaligay, according to District Police Officer (DPO) Swat Umar Khan Gandapur.
All three of the militants were killed as the police responded to the terrorists’ fire. The terrorist of Afghan descent was sought in nine terrorism crimes, according to DPO Gundapur, while the other two were each implicated in two instances.
Hand grenades, Kalashnikov rifles, and handguns were among the recovered items. To track down their colleagues, the police have confiscated the terrorists’ cell phones, and a search is being conducted to find any surviving accomplices.
Earlier, the militant involved in the attack on District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Khalid Khan was killed in a police operation on Saturday in the Naryab area of Hangu.
The terrorist involved in the attack on the DPO was killed by firing from his own accomplices, the police said.
The event follows an intense gunfight between terrorists and security officials in the Shinawari Zargari neighborhood of Hangu on July 19.
DPO Khalid, who was in charge of the operation, was taken to Peshawar for medical attention after being shot three times during the fight.
