Earlier, the Pakistan Meteorological Department had forecast. A high-pressure system is likely to prevail in the region from May 15, due to which the daytime temperatures will increase significantly in the southern and northern parts of the country.

The southern regions, including Sindh, southern Punjab, and Balochistan, are likely to experience temperatures 4 to 6 degrees Celsius above normal from May 15 to 20.

Meanwhile, the northern regions such as central and upper Punjab, Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan will experience temperatures 5 to 7 degrees Celsius above normal from May 15 to 19.

The Meteorological Department said that there may be relief from the intense heat as a western weather system is likely to enter the upper regions of the country on the evening of May 19.
